I bought this at a court house lawn sale in a small town near here. An old farmer sold it to me for $5.

I was absolutely thrilled. It’s a beautiful hand wrought tool that has withstood the test of time.
It looks like the Devil’s trident or pitchfork, and it kind of reminds me of Neptune’s Trident.
Too bad it doesn’t weild his powers.
Neptune, not the devil.

I have added in Humpty Dumpty to show Suzanne my cookie jar also known as Mr. Sperm by my sons.
~Gardening is about enjoying the smell of things growing in the soil, getting dirty without feeling guilty, and generally taking the time to soak up a little peace and serenity. ~Lindley Karstens

That’s a serious looking pitchfork, but beautiful in its hand wrought style and simplicity. Cookie jar cracks me up, in a creepy sort of way!

The fork looks like a frog gig. My dad used to go frogging when I was little and they used a fork that looked similar to this one. Then my mom would cook the frog legs…which sounds sort of gross, but tasted like chicken. Is the handle really long? If so, then it might be a frog gig. Mumzie

That tool looks evil, I think it could tear up some soil. I love to garden too. This year we need to do some major landscaping-we added a sunroom this past fall and took out one our large garden spots. Can’t wait to get my hands dirty.
Happy VT

Hi Teresa, I love the fork AND Mr. Sperm, lol. The curl at the end suggests it was hung somehow? It is great and seems to have lots of character. That was a good price too. I love old tools.

Wish I could wear some like this. But my poor feet just would not take it.
