Cold frame revisited~ A project that makes this spring all the more welcome

I am posting again about this fun project from last spring. We found some vintage windows on the curb, and they inspired this entire project.  With a bit of wood found in the garage and a quick trip to Home Depot, we had the makings of a fun weekend.   On a gorgeous day early last Spring,  myhusband  got started on building me [...]

Seeing spots?

I think you may be….. They look like spots.  And if you aren’t sure,   You should be.       Because…   they are spots.     The picture at the top is of my Aunt a long time ago( She’s 88 now).  I think she is sporting the height of outdoor fashion.  That’s her daughter in the [...]

Another old Santa

This is a Santa Claus tree topper that my son made in kindergarten or maybe preschool.  So it’s somewhere around 25 years old.  I used it for the top of our Christmas tree every year until it was just about falling apart.   Last year I decided to frame it and just hang it on the [...]

Santa

I bought this Santa sign at a garage sale for $4.  I couldn’t believe my luck, that I had found it.  It stands about 4 ft tall and is made out of wood.   I think it may have been an advertisement of some sort long ago.  Whatever it was, it has new life now [...]

A sparkling Christmas tree like no other

I made This Chrismas tree from vintage pins that were given to me. Each one of them is so pretty and unique.  They remind me of the person who gave it to me which makes it more special.   It is about 15 inches square and each one is pinned to the red velvet and then I framed them [...]

W is for wreath

I made this wreath several years ago from vintage ornaments I have collected through the years. Most of them were saved from family, some from garage sales and ebay.  They are what I always decorate my tree with, but I had so many I decided to make some of the extras into a wreath so [...]

Vintage hanging cupboard

This is an old cupboard someone threw away several months ago.  While out on a walk with my friend, we came across it.     The back was falling apart, the door was off, the finish was horrible and their had been a can of polyurethane that had dumped inside of it.  Quite a mess. It was in [...]

My Vintage Thingies this week

are my old metal garden chairsas as well as my adirondack chairs which I have shown before  but thought I would share again.    Slowly over the years I have accumulated all of these chairs.  I found every single one of them on the curb and brought them back to life with sand paper, elbow grease [...]

Hall tree heirloom

This is the hall tree that stood in the foyer of the house my husband grew up in.  It was his mom’s and it was her mom’s before that.   When we started dating it was an “antiqued” finish that was green with varnish over it that made it look old.  Then his mom painted it bright [...]

Dresser redo

Here is the dresser I restored for our new grandaughter that’s was born in July.   I sanded off the old finish, cleaned up the pulls and lock covers, then refinished the whole thing.   I contact papered the drawers, and voila!   Here it is before…. Here it is after. We delivered it to my son and his wife [...]
