We are about at the end of the bloomin season here in upstate NY

although I still have plenty of  flowers still holding on. 

I am starting to clean up my gardens for winter, moving a few things around in anticipation of next spring. 

My morning glories and climatis are still looking beautiful as are the mums, nasturtiums and sedum. 

 There are some dahlias and zinnias left along with my mantauck daisies which are only just beginning to bloom now.   

 We finally got a little bit of rain and it is so needed.

The dry weather has caused some of my plants that might have still had a bit of life left to succumb to the drought conditions. 

 Cooler weather is coming later this week but it is October soon so I am not complaining. 

 The trees are changing quickly with a lot of color so it makes up for all the other plants closing down for winter time. 

It’s all good.

Fall is such a wonderful time of year!

 The temperatures have been cooler and it was beginning to feel fall like way toooooo soon for me. 

It has finally stopped and they are predicting sunshine and warm weather for the next 6 days or so. 

 Whew.  I thought maybe summer had ended. 

Luckily between the raindrops,

 I was able to shoot a few pics of my flowers,

wet as they were.

They are  pretty in a different way than usual. 

Dreary weather and rain change the perspective a bit,

but there is no denying their beauty,

in any light.

 We had a wonderful soaking rain last weekend.

It really helped perk things up around here. 

I have cleared out some of the spent plants and flowers so it seems a bit sparse in some areas,

 but in others there is plenty of fullness. 

 I have seen monarchs drifting by now and then which always makes me happy. 

In fact, just being out there seeing and smelling the garden is a treat,

maybe more so since I know it won’t last too much longer.

But in the style of Scarlet Ohara, 

I won’t think about that now,

I’ll think about that tomorrow.

 This week has been another hot one. 

 Some of my plants aren’t faring as well as others but there are still plenty churning out the blooms. 

I had to do a lot of weeding and deadheading this week but it’s all good,

as long as I can garden,

 I am not complaining. 

Too soon I will be indoors watching it snow and wishing I was out in the yard working up a sweat over spent flowers and weeds.   

One of the things I find myself doing in August is realizing  the end of summer is almost here,

so I spend a little more time absorbing the garden and how great it is to be out there.

  After a couple of well needed rainy days, the weather has been wonderful.

These past two days, it’s hot but with low humidity so you can actually enjoy being outdoors. 

 I was finally able to catch up on my yard work and see what is going on out there. 

I have plenty of blooms putting on their show as well as weeds that needed to be pulled. 

The flowers make the weeding all the easier with their cheerful little faces. 

My muscles may be sore from all the weeding I am finally able to get done, but when I look out at the garden…

all is right with the world.

 It’s mid July, time to see what’s going on in our gardens for Garden Blogger’s Bloomsday.  It’s also Fertilizer Friday!

I have a lot blooming,

so it makes it hard to believe my yard and gardens are showing the stress of very little rain

and extremely high temperatures.

   My grass is brown in spots

and some of my plants have given in to the heat and lack of water.

But most are doing great!

So those are what I am sharing today,

 the resilient plants that continue to flourish despite the conditions.

So I have a few empty spots that would normally be lush and full,

but that’s okay because everywhere else is alive with color. 

Somehow that makes it seem a little bit cooler outside.

The temperatures are in the high 90′s to low 100′s here for the past week or so. 

The heat is one thing, but the humidity makes it so hard to breathe. 

It’s hard to find a spot that is cool to stay in unless you are in front of an air conditioner.

  Although most of my plants love the humidity, I can’t seem to keep everyone’s thirst quenched. 

 It doesn’t matter how much I water, it isn’t enough. 

  I hope most of my plants can endure the heat.  

Some of them are looking awful. 

But I won’t show you those.

There are so many different flowers. 

I even had a tomato that turned red. 

Unfortunately, the critters that live amongst us decided it would be great fun to pick, take a bite or two and leave in the dirt to rot. 

 I am not sure if it’s squirrels or chipmunks.

Devils, I ‘d say.  They have pulled up every onion I planted too.  Who knew they liked onions. 

 After a long stretch of incredibly warm and very humid weather, we have been almost cold the last few days with nightime temperatures in the upper forties and highs of 70 degrees. 

Very comfy weather and breezy too.

They are predicting very hot weather for this weekend in the 90′s. 

 It has been hard to keep my plants watered with all the cool breezy weather, that wind dries out everything.

I am sure we will be back to reality temperature wise soon, then I will be watering because it’s so hot.  Either way is okay with me.  It’s nice having dry weather for a bit, especially for the holiday weekend.
