Garden Blogger’s Blooms Day May

web-may-13-137To spite our crazy weather here in upstate NY, plenty of flowers are starting to show themselves. web-may-13-124

One day it’s hot~ like 80 degrees, and the next it’s in the 30′s.

There’s been a lot of wind and rain as well.

The last couple of days have been rainy but not really cold so the whole garden seems to be coming alive. web-may-13-0421

I shouldn’t complain because we have had some really unseasonably warm days too.  web-may-13-0191

I think that is what makes it so hard to go back to frosts and freezes.

Luckily we live in the city and have a fenced in yard so my plants haven’t had much damage.   web-may-13-1271

A couple more weeks and we should have clear sailing( I hope).

Today was a beautiful day so we got out there, mowed and weeded and finally filled our raised beds. web-j-004

Tomorrow I am off to buy plants ~ then it will really feel like gardening season.  web-may-13-1861

Happy bloom day! I do hope you’re done with the frost and will enjoy the fruits of your labor soon.

  • 2 bangchik:

The plants had been considerate enough, to withstand the tough temperature variation and still had enough energy left to give out beautiful blooms. ~bangchik

Your weather description sounds very much like mine and yet we are so far apart on the continent. I don’t think our climates are usually that similar, but we are having an unusual spring. I hate when it goes from 80 to freezing, and then back, in such a short time span.

In southern Ontario we have had cool temperatures and lots of rain lately and it keeps us indoors and not outdoors in the garden. I loved the photo of your batchelor’s buttons. Mine have been chewed off by some critter. I hope they come back. Happy Gardening. Valerie

You have a fantastic garden :) The weather has been crazy in Sweden as well. Yesterday was a sunny but not very warm day and today it’s warmer but rainy.
A but what can you do :)

I understand your frustration with crazy weather patterns! We’ve had some crazy stuff going on here in Northern California, too! But I love seeing your garden – and those fabulous vegetable beds! Reminds me I’d better get out there and plant mine this weekend!

HI, Teresa, Your patio looks great with the green stuff growing in the cracks. What is it? I weed mine and hate the job. I planted some sedum but I’m not sure ……
I would like to plant my tomatoes and peppers out, but I am so afraid of this crazy weather that I am going to wait a bit. Love that batchelor’s button. Pam x

you have a wonderful garden and I enjoyed each and every flower photo!

  • 9 Dreamybee:

Seems like it has been weird weather everywhere this past winter/spring. Glad to see you still have some beautiful blooms. Yay for plant shopping-have fun!

  • 10 Teresa:

Pam, that is just grass and some sedum. I kept trying to get moss and sedum to grow but no luck so I just planted grass seed there and I weed wack it to keep it short.

  • 11 Larry:

Your garden looks lovely! I especially like your raised beds. It sounds like you’ve been getting our Wisconsin weather this season… the flowers have been excellent , but often short-lived because of the cold winds. Larry

  • 12 Vintage Remixed:

WOW. You have a beautiful garden. I so wish I could have a green thumb.

  • 13 Irrigation Systems:

What a lovely garden! this May has been a challenge for gardeners everywhere but I suppose it could have been worse. Out of interest, what is the flower in the last picture of a purple blossom?

  • 14 GwendolynGarden:

Love those Peonies! Can’t wait for mine to bloom!
