Purple Sunshine

Still nothing blooming outside
but inside I have an African Violet that more than makes up for that.
I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Early to bed, early to rise,
Work like hell: fertilize.

Friday is Blooming, inside anyway

Since there is a blizzard going on outside, my indoors blooms will have to do.Â
I have an African Violet just starting to bloom.  I am so happy about that.  My grandmother would have been happy to see those flowers.  She loved African Violets.
Then I have a Haworthia.(Thanks Mr. Brown Thumb!)

Â
It’s texture is fascinating to me.  [...]

F is for Flower

As promised, I took a photo of my iris’s that are now opened up.  I think it’s the color that really grabs me with these, although the flower itself is beautiful on it’s own.
Maybe I am just so winter weary that  any flower makes me giddy.  Either way there is no denying that Mother Nature is [...]

My dogs are happy in my Bogs

Let’s overlook for a minute how cute these shoes are and talk about them being waterproof. There will be no wet toes when I am wearing these.Â
I especially like the snug high ankle that will keep dirt and rocks out of my shoes when I garden.
There are a couple of different patterns and there are also pull [...]

Rose(pink) colored glasses

I have a new reason to think pink.  A new grandaughter is coming!
She is also our first grandchild, so the world is looking better through my new rose colored glasses.

The long winter shines some light

Winter’s Light is the theme for GGW Picture This Photo Contest this month. This is my entry.    Â
The afternoon light catching on this icicle hanging out my window made for an interesting shot.  There is so little color, yet you can feel the cold on the gray winter’s day. It depicts the starkness of Winter to me.
  I also [...]

Red, Love, Chocolate and Flowers

 Valentines Day is the best.
It’s all about love and the color red.
Any day that involves the giving of chocolate can’t be anything but great.

Last but not least, there are flowers~ especially roses.
Â
  Need I say more?Â
~Here is the deepest secret nobody knows,
Here is the root  of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky [...]

The Love Plant

alias Purple Shamrock and in botanical terms… Oxalis Triangularis.Â
This plant is growing in a window that I happened to pass by today.  When I looked into the room the plant appeared bright red.  I couldn’t resist taking a closer look.Â
I was amazed not only at the plants beauty and unusual color but also at the sunshine beaming though the [...]

RED!

While taking a ride out in the country one afternoon, we found this wonderful Red Barn.

Â
The paint was tired and peeling but the color more than made up for it. Â
I especially liked the red glass lightening rod on top.
Gardening is about enjoying the smell of things growing in the soil, getting dirty without feeling [...]
