Nice shot! Our crickets in CA are lighter in color and smaller (and very fast and hard to photograph!!).

Ah, the addition of shadow antenna make the bug look even more fierce.

I love seeing this great shot of the cricket. We have not had many of those, but worlds of locust.

Not only is he BIG, he has given us a fine shadow. I think it makes him seem even larger. His body is filled with texture which sadly does not make him too appealing to me. Quite a fine macro shadow shot. genie
Where is my shadow,
I cannot find her anywhere,
I’m so lonely without her here.
If the lighting’s right,
and I am out in the yard,
I bet I’ll see her again.
That will make me smile,
My loneliness will end
I’ll be with my friend.

Even little crickets give fine concerts—and big ones just boom out those basso profundos!
SHADOWY DELIGHT
Shadows above me, shadows below,
Shadows beside me, wherever I go;
Shadows each morning, shadows at night—
Shadows, O shadows, you’re my delight!

Jimminy crickets, those little blighters are multiplying like rabbits here and eating everything in sight. Last year it was a locust plague with grasshoppers and crickets galore and now something has already stripped my roses of their leaves.

Not only is he Big…but supposedly a great good luck charm too.
