B is for Beautiful. B is for Breathtaking.

Last spring, while driving near the Delaware river,  we were thrilled to see a Bald Eagle.  It was young so the colors weren’t exactly right.  They don’t get their white heads until nearly five years old.  It flew to a tree on our side of the river.  I was able to creep up very close.  He didn’t seem to mind me getting closer and closer.  I think it was just used to the noises of the road, or maybe he was determining whether or not he could carry me away and have me for dinner. (See, there are times when having a few extra pounds pays off.) He posed there for a bit before taking off and joining with another eagle.  They soared into the distance.  I was in awe.  I had never seen an eagle in the wild before.  Later we stopped at a place on the river that my husband had seen an eagle’s nest before.  As luck would have it, the pair was in their nest.   It was very high in a pine tree so I couldn’t get a sharp image, but you can see the male on a branch and the female  tending to her nest.  nesting

That was a very fun day.
