A glimpse into gardens of 1917
Here are a few more of the pictures I found last week in my husband’s grandfather’s trunk.
The girl on the right is my husband’s grandmother in 1917.
They have such nice gardens in these photos, I wish they were in color so I could see the hydrangeas.
What are these girls up to here? Being silly I suppose. The second from the left is also his grandmother.
The woman on the far left is my husband’s great grandmother. Their sashes say War Fund. I am not sure what that is all about.
The garden behind this girl(in a similar uniform) looks really fruitful.
This is my husband’s grandfather in his WWI uniform. I am not sure what the flowers next to him are.
~These pictures give us a tiny glimpse into the life way back then. I am sure their lives were so very different from the ones we lead today.
One thing does seem the same … They liked gardens and flowers as much as we enjoy them now.

Your post was a lot of fun for me … I have family pictures so very similar from my mother’s family, from the same era. There are ones of my grandmother dressed up like what I thought was nurses garb, like in your War Fund photo.
Happy VTT!

I have a collection of old photos, none of which are people that I know. It is fun to have them as instant relatives. I always wonder who they were and what they were doing. Thanks for sharing.

Your photograpy of the flowers is beautiful, I know you are highlighting the vintage pics but I just couldn’t get past the colors and how vibrant they are. Happy VTT day!
